Malcolm leads the EPG. His interest and expertise spans developed and developing countries, and ranges across all aspects of power generation and distribution.

Personal Assistant

Mallory is Malcolm's personal assistant. She focuses on optimising Malcolm's schedule, time management and response rate. She keeps the group afloat and organised.

Senior Research Manager

Gemma is Malcolm's Project Manager, focusing on ensuring that the group is functioning well, delivering to time on the portfolio of projects, and providing a conduit between the group and key stakeholders.

Associate Professor and PI SHEILD

Stephi helps to deliver energy services that create value for marginalised communities. Her work focuses on Low-Income Countries. She is the Deputy Research Director at the Climate Compatible Growth Programme.

Jesus Lizana

Associate Professor

Jesus Lizana is Associate Professor in Engineering Science at the University of Oxford, with a unique experience profile in architecture and engineering. He leads the research on Zero-Carbon Space Heating and Cooling at ZERO Institute.

Scot Wheeler

Senior Postdoctoral Researcher

Scot works at the interface between flexible energy technologies, energy markets, and user engagement in the design of smart local energy systems. He worked on project LEO, which was hugely successful.

Alycia Leonard

Alycia works in geospatial energy systems modelling as part of the Climate Compatible Growth programme. Her research focuses on the design of inclusive energy access systems in low- and middle-income countries.

Becky's doctoral research focuses on energy usage and battery lifetime in off-grid electricity systems in developing countries, using operational data.

Mónica Sagastuy-Breña

Mónica’s research focuses on developing successful energy strategies through Mapping System Transformation methodology. Her work has a special focus in the Mexican case study, but is intended to be applicable in general.

Abdullah’s research focuses on how resource-rich economies can maintain an edge in a decarbonised world. Specifically, focusing on renewable energy capacity planning, stranded assets and innovative energy-sector business models.

Kevin Otiato

Dphil Student

Kevin's research focuses on integrating e-cookers with power-limited solar photovoltaic (PV) systems as a clean cooking transition pathway for sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Specifically, his work addresses efficient energy use, and the automation of e-cookers specialized for preparing SSA's staple meals.

Mokone Shibambu (Thorsten)

Dphil Student

Thorsten's research focuses on optimising a dual land use system where agriculture and solar photovoltaic energy production occur on the same land – Agrivoltaic system. Specifically analysing how the configuration of solar panels affects the radiation available for crops to grow either underneath or between the panels and the overall cost of the system.

Samiyha Naqvi

Software Engineer

Samiyha works on the maintenance and development of the spatial techno-economic model of hydrogen and ammonia production. She is on hand to address issues and bugs raised by users, as well as continually increasing the usability of the model.
