I got my Bsc in Mechanical engineering in 2013. I chose to specialise in energy engineering during my master, which I did in the EIT-KIC InnoEnergy framework. For this master, I studied one year at the KU Leuven in Belgium, and one year at KTH in Sweden. In my thesis, I looked at the potential for demand side management in the district heating system in Stockholm.
Immediately after completing my Msc in 2015, I started my PhD, which is a cooperation between the University of Oxford and a Belgian research institute (EnergyVille). I'm trying to find out how batteries degrade in real applications, in order to find an optimal control strategy for small-scale distributed batteries in electricity grids with a high penetration of intermittent renewable energy sources (like PV panels). Read more on the research my group is doing on our group website.
