I received my BEng and MSc (Eng.) degrees in electrical and electronic engineering from Stellenbosch University, Stellenbosch, South Africa in 2008 and 2011 respectively and my PhD (Eng.) in electrical engineering in April 2014. I joined the Energy and Power group at the University of Oxford as a post-doctoral research assistant in May 2014.
During my PhD, my research focused on novel generator topologies for wind energy applications and the optimisation of permanent magnet machine technologies, with the help of electromagnetic finite element software.
The focus of my current research is on the electromagnetic design and analysis of novel switched reluctance machine topologies for automotive traction applications. This research is being conducted in collaboration with McLaren Automotive Ltd. and McLaren Applied Technologies.
