In 2010, I graduated with a BSc in Environmental and Process Engineering from the MCI - University of Applied Science in Innsbruck, Austria. During my MSc course at the Technical University of Denmark, I worked on electrochemical and microstructural characterisation of solid oxide fuel cells.

In my PhD project, I am focusing my interest in electrochemical energy storage and conversion devices on lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries for electric and hybrid electric vehicle applications. Safety and reliability of Li-ion batteries are still major issues, which hinder a large-scale market penetration of this technology. These issues are – to a large part – due to a lack of understanding of battery degradation. My research objective therefore involves the development of novel methods for the diagnosis and prognosis of degradation and failure in Li-ion batteries.
